Technical advice
What about transporting burner in "ready-to-fly" position?
We have got many questions concerning burner transportation. So the general answer to this question is: "Yes, you can". However a few points need to be considered:
Open baskets
- Never transport the burner without fixing!!!
- The easiest way of fixing the burner - use small velcro tape supplied with the burner and secure the burner units by handle to burner frame.
- The burner frame and upper basket frame is under cyclic load which never appear during flying. This can reduce service life of your equipment.
- Reduce duration of transport in upright position to minimum - when traveling to fiesta / to another city, keep your burner in basket. The burner can be also in the basket when returning from a competition / fiesta flight. Your crew will make your basket ready before next flight while you are on briefing!
- If you have the Vario burner frame keep it in the lowest position during transport. This saves the gas damper.
Partitioned baskets
- We understand how much work you need to prepare for flight your big ride basket. That's way the structure of partitioned baskets is so robust, that you can transport your burner in upright position at all times.
- But do not forgot - FIX THE BURNER UNITS WHEN TRANSPORTED. It can be easily done by an old cylinder strap (3 or 4 units burner) or by Velcro (2 units burner).
- However when traveling longer distances consider putting the burner down on top of the basket. Do not forget to protect basket padding by piece of plastic foam or tube where the burner frame is placed.
